The Star Wars Special Edition Trilogy Turns 25 with Aaron Neuwirth

Probably not being roundly celebrated this year is the 25th birthday of The Star Wars Trilogy: Special Edition. This event celebrating the original Star Wars at 20 was a pretty big deal. Beyond the updated special effects, unseen footage and other tinkering, it was the first time many of us were able to actually see the films in a theater on the big screen. I’m well aware that these aren’t looked back on fondly, but for me, these 3 months in 1997 were a big deal and an exciting time for myself as a Star Wars fan and a lover of cinema. It was quite exciting and I had a lot of fun recollecting and discussing these with show regular Aaron Neuwirth. This is a nice, breezy conversation that has us talking the climate and culture of the Star Wars fan at the time as well as our thoughts then versus now versus the virtual “angry online” consensus on things regarding these films.
