The State of man by Kai-Anne Clews

from Original Christian Poetry · host Kai-Anne Clews

Oh blessed creature, Created to God's own form, How lost, berfet, how violent, And forlorn... How forgetful of your duty, Oh gentle touch come back to man - Or be forever attached unto misery, Unable before his Lord to stand. How I love them, And pity their forgetful state... So petty and shortsighted, But the hour, is very late. How might we rouse these sleepers, And share with them the treasure? How can we pull them free from their keepers, How might we tempt them away from pleasure? Surely, we have not the power, To do anything such as this... Only the Holy Spirt can change them, Only He can fulfill this wish. Come, Holy Spirit, Come, Save the children from their sea of tears. Come and ease their sorrows, Built up like prisons throughout The years. Let them break to freedom, To the kingdom fair and high, To look on their Creator, To finally realize why.
