In January 2008, residents around Stephenville, Texas, reported brilliant lights, unusual formations, and what some believed was a massive silent craft moving through the night sky. Several witnesses also saw military jets operating nearby. The U.S. Air Force initially denied having aircraft in the area, then later confirmed that F-16s had been conducting training exercises. This reversal increased public suspicion and encouraged researchers to examine Federal Aviation Administration radar records. The data confirmed the presence of military aircraft and also revealed at least one unidentified target moving through the broader Stephenville region without a standard transponder signal. Its route and timing appeared broadly consistent with some eyewitness reports, though radar could not determine its exact shape, size, or origin.
