The Storage Unit on Holloway Road

from The Backup Drive — Fexingo Horror · host Fexingo

It was the summer after my aunt passed, and I was the one sent to clear out her storage unit on Holloway Road, just outside the town of Mercer, Ohio. The place was a maze of identical roll-up doors baking in the July heat, and Unit 47 looked like all the rest until I slid the lock off and pulled the door open. Inside, the air was thick and warm, smelling of mothballs and old paper, and stacked floor to ceiling were boxes labeled in her handwriting — only most of them weren't her things. They were things people had reported missing over the last thirty years: a child's tricycle, a wedding album, a pair of boots, a police scanner, a doll with a cracked porcelain face. At the back of the unit, behind a wall of sealed cardboard, was a cot, a lamp, and a notebook. The last entry was dated three days before she died. It said: 'I stopped taking things. But they keep coming. They want to be here. I can't make them leave.' I left the door open when I drove away, but I still feel like something followed me home. #FexingoHorror #HorrorPodcast #TheBackupDrive #StorageUnit #MercerOhio #MissingObjects #AuntMarge #HollowayRoad #JulyHeat #PorcelainDoll #Notebook #Cot #PoliceScanner #WeddingAlbum #Tricycle #Grief #Obsession #LunaReads Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
