Bobby Cassidy began his journalism career as a sports reporter for Newsday in 1987. In addition to Newsday, Cassidy’s writing has appeared in the New York Post, Los Angeles Times and ESPN.com.  In 1994, Cassidy moved over to Newsday’s digital team and began shooting and editing video for Newsday’s online edition in 1999. Cassidy earned Peabody and Edward R. Murrow awards in 2019 for a two-year investigation into discrimination in Long Island’s real estate industry. He was the director of a groundbreaking five-part documentary series on the life and times of Mafia boss Sonny Franzese, which earned a New York Emmy. As Newsday’s Executive Director of Multimedia, Cassidy was responsible for the launch of NewsdayTV in March of 2022.
