"The Story Of David" Week 10 - 1 Samuel 25:1-44

from North Conway Baptist Church - Weekly Sermons · host Dr.Jay Worthington

How should we treat fools when we encounter them in life? How should we want others to treat us when we are being foolish? Join us Sunday as we examine chapter 25 and encounter two foolish men and one wise woman. One fool will repent and be blessed, but the other will refuse correction and die at the hand of God. As sinners, we all know that there are times and situations when we act foolishly, sinfully,  arrogantly, and unwisely. We all drift off course, but how do we avoid those times, and how do we get back on course when we do? The answer is that we lean into the truths of God’s Word, and Sunday’s chapter is full of truths on just this topic. Our current series, "The Story of David,” will help us learn to be men and women after God’s heart. King David is one of the most prominent figures in the Bible. He is known for his bravery, piety, and leadership and is considered to be Israel's greatest king. But David was not without his flaws. He committed adultery with Bathsheba and then arranged for her husband to be killed in battle. Despite this, David is still revered for his devotion to God and his commitment to the people of Israel. King David's legacy is one of leadership, bravery, and devotion to God. The overall series through 1 Samuel is called Choose Your King. The book of 1 Samuel contains the record of the calling of the nation of Israel’s first kings. These earthly kings had significant victories in their lives and some devastating failures. We will see our own victories and failures as we look at their lives. But above all, we will see that God, embodied in HIs son Jesus, is the only perfect king and the one we need to follow. Because of the length of the overall book, we will break the series up into several smaller mini-series organized around the central characters.
