Gallatin History Museum director Bill Jones discusses the legendary Bozeman pioneer and entrepreneur who is credited with bringing the first Texas cattle to Montana Territory in 1866. The ambitious businessman invested in milling, ranching, banking, and real estate and, for his family home, built Bozeman’s first true mansion, an imposing 1888 Second Empire–style residence that sat for fifty-two years on Main Street.
