The Story of Rock and Roll: S9E29

from The Story of Rock and Roll Radio Show · host James Daubeney

S9E29 went out live from the TSORR Myoli Beach studio on 16 July 2026.  This is one of those shows where time just flew, and I could have played for another three hours. For the first time in ages, we didn't do an Immortals feature. There was just so much in Rock and Metal Time Machine that I couldn't spare the seven minutes that the Immortals take. Diabolical Challenge was interesting. We continued with our theme of final albums. This week, the albums took a tragic turn. Bowie and Freddie Mercury were passing away. Jim Morrison died tragically, as did Kurt Cobain; all four of these albums were magnificent ends to an era. For the next few weeks in The Diabolical Challenge, we'll look at final albums made by legendary bands, and we kicked it off this week with: Nirvana - In Utero David Bowie - BlackstarQueen - InnuendoThe Doors - L.A.
