The Subtle & the Gross

Today we have both the Retrograde station of Mars conjunct Antares, the Heart of the Scorpion, and the maximum elongation of Mercury as evening star in Taurus -which prefigures the upcoming Transit of Mercury on May 9. We can use these two events and their significations as a metaphor for the Alchemical operation of Distillation, where the subtle spiritual force of a substance is drawn out and concentrated into a healing elixir.
