God's revelation of the Suffering Servant via Isaiah's prophecy was like an atomic bomb in Old Testament Theological Revelation. Up until this point, the Mosaic law had allowed for atonement via a "spotless" substitute - an animal sacrifice. That system of substitution was a means of grace from God, and it pointed to God's true plan of redemption - to substitute the Woman's Seed, The Royal King, The Suffering Servant for his people.
