File Updated: 10/04/25 @ 12:16 GMT ~ Day time vox in and vocal line starting to show its shape Lyrics You gave me word hiss... Thank you Miss... Your name was... Miss. You had one hour You sat and watched us make flower For them the chat For me more word Any chance to explain absurd So the rhymes came Adding to sane First words saved Pleasure poetry That bell is ringing For them the chats singing Thank you Miss, I'm out the door "One second lad, Can I read your word?" Ok why not... "That's amazing" Oh... why thank you... Just words I'm saving The super sub had one hour She inspired a lifetime of power This song is for a substitute teacher I had for one hour when I was 15. We were left to our own devices so I wrote a poem. While the rest of the class chattered after a while the super sub came down and asked to read my poem. She did and told me it was amazing... I had never shown anyone any writing before that let alone had a positive or negative reaction to any of it. Since that moment I've wanted to do it everyday. Before that moment I had never even considered what it was I just liked doing it. I don't even know her name... Miss... but she was like a nitrous boost to me writing words on paper so thanks Miss 🙌🏽🔆 She literally only had one hour and that was exactly 30 years ago. Her one sentence has been motivation and confirmation that what I do is good ever since. So it really only took her one moment to do that. One moment .. Hmmm that's interesting For some reason I've drawn to this too. Every morning growing up I read the cereal box packet. knew all the ingredients. When on the toilet I read the soap and when in the shower the shampoo. I always did that... It's hard to appreciate that being a cool thing to do now with screen drugs but I'd also associate that habit with appreciating literature and writing and words so deeply
