The Sycamore Gap tree was one of the most famous trees in the world, known for its natural outstanding beauty, the tree is thought to have been between 150/200 years old. It sat next to Hadrian's wall and was iconic. The tree and location even featured in the 1991 Robin Hood movie. What was once an area where couples share intimate moments such as proposals, families shattering ashes of loved ones or photographers taking photos, soon turned into shock and confusion when in 2023, the tree was cut down, with no explanation, it soon became clear that someone had done this on purpose, but why?
