The System is so damaged. A full journey account of Lindsey's pregnancy loss, birth trauma with regulated midwives and candid open heart talk from a wise mother.

from The Noble Mother · host Victoria-The Noble Mother

This episode with Lindsey is very vulnerable. Lindsey does not hold back with her detailed account of the most raw intimate emotions and experiences around her pregnancy loss and the birth of her baby that died. Lindsey and I also discuss the dysfunction with regulated midwives and the trail of trauma these systems perpetuate for mothers and women. Lindsey is a very powerful storyteller and she is very brave and wise. We discuss motherhood, death, the system. You don't want to miss this episode! The overarching theme is women are not listened too! Lindsey Steele is a teacher, a mother, and a hobby writer. She has been chronicling her life through pictures and words since 2016; first as a grieving woman, navigating miscarriages and infertility— and now as a mother of two earth-side rainbow babes. Lindsey is known for her ability to speak poetically about topics such as death, loss, postpartum depression, anxiety, and more. She doesn’t want women and mothers to suffer in silence, and she believes that when we breathe life into community spaces— beautiful connections can form. Lindsey has written many micro-blog posts on Instagram, as well as poetry and prose— about her experience with pregnancy loss, the complicated unraveling (and subsequent finding) of one’s self as a mother, and the magic of her children. Recently, Lindsey has been reflecting on her experiences birthing within the system (with midwives), as well as with her first birth experience (a miscarriage)— and she is looking for ways to reconnect with the innate wisdom that exists there. The wisdom women have been trained out of. Lindsey certainly doesn’t have all the answers, but she knows for certain that we have immense power and knowledge inside us. Just waiting to be tapped in to. She is grateful for this opportunity to connect and share.
