Zacchaeus was one of the most despised men in Jericho, a chief tax collector who had betrayed his own people for personal gain. Yet when Jesus passed through town, He did not walk past. He stopped, looked up into a tree, called Zacchaeus by name, and asked to come to his house. What followed was a complete transformation. Zacchaeus surrendered to Jesus as Lord and immediately moved to restore what he had taken from others. This moment reveals something profound about who Jesus is and why He came. He did not wait for the lost to find their way to Him. He went looking for them. Sin creates separation from God, but Jesus, our High Priest, crosses that distance and comes to us wherever we are.
