The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher | Animal Stories

"The Tale of Mr. Jeremy Fisher" tells the story of a polite frog who lives by a pond and decides to go fishing for minnows to serve for dinner, hoping to invite his friends Sir Isaac Newton (a newt) and Mr. Alderman Ptolemy Tortoise. Despite the rain, he equips himself with a macintosh and goloshes, rows his lily-pad boat out, and casts his line. His fishing trip is fraught with minor mishaps: he gets nibbled by a water beetle, worries about rats, and catches a prickly stickleback instead of a minnow. The real trouble begins when a huge trout leaps out and swallows him whole, only to spit him back out immediately because it dislikes the taste of his raincoat (though it keeps his goloshes).
