The Tehran 1976 UFO Incident - Close Encounter Over the Capital

On September 19, civilians and air traffic controllers in Tehran reported a large, glowing object in the night sky. The Iranian Air Force scrambled two F-4 Phantom II jets to investigate. Lieutenant Parviz Jafari, piloting the second jet, reported seeing a massive radiant sphere that released smaller glowing objects, one of which appeared to pursue his aircraft before rejoining the main craft.
