“The Temptation of Jesus” -Part 1 Luke 4:1-13 Satan is not creative at all. He only has three basic temptations and one tactic. The three temptations are summarized in 1 John 2:16: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. No matter what temptation you are dealing with, it will fall into one of these three categories. Satan’s only tactic in these three categories of temptation is to raise doubt in our minds about the Word of God. He twists the Word of God. He makes subtle changes to the Word of God. He adds to the Word of God or subtracts from the Word of God. He takes verses out of context. All of Satan’s temptations revolve around misusing or abusing the Word of God. And this is the way he tempts you. He twists the Word of God and raises doubt about what God has said. This is why it is so vitally important to know the Word of God.
