The Bible reveals God as a missionary God, therefore the Bible is a missionary book. 2. The Bible reveals Jesus as a missionary Person, ever seeking and saving the Lost. 3. The Apostles were all missionaries and most laid down their lives for the Lord. 4. The commission of our Lord to His followers was a missionary message. 5. The practise of the early church. 6. The teaching of the apostles in the Epistles has a missionary focus. 7. The history of the true church of the Lord Jesus has been to go to all nations. What has been the motivation of the followers of the Lord Jesus to become missionaries? 1. Obedience to their Lord and Saviour. 2. A genuine concern (compassion) for the lost. Someone said that the rationale for Missionary work may be summed up in the following: The Command from above. - "Go into all the world." The Cry from beneath. - "Send him to my father's house." The Call from afar. "Come over to Macedonia and helps us." Acts 16:9 The Compassion from within. "When He saw him had compassion"
