The Thumping Under The Thyme
from Christmas Stories
Barnaby and Elara, keepers of the shop's lore, investigate a sudden, localized failure of a simple heating element in a music box. This leads them to realize the town's central timekeeping mechanism is also compromised, possibly affecting the grand lighting ceremony. They recall the need for pure silver components mentioned in relation to the Carillon of Wishes. Searching the antique shop's restricted attic, they discover not clock parts, but ancient light-refracting prisms. One amethyst prism is oddly warm. The episode concludes with a heavy, rhythmic thumping vibrating up from beneath the shop, suggesting an unseen, deliberate subterranean movement.
