“The Touch of Faith”

Aug.3, 2026 Daily Devotional: “The Touch of Faith”Matthew 9:29  "Then he touched their eyes and said, 'According to your faith let it be done to you.'"    In Matthew chapter 9, two blind men follow Jesus, desperate for a miracle. They couldn't see Him, but they could hear His footsteps, feel His presence, and recognize His identity as the "Son of David." Notice what Jesus does;before opening their eyes, He tests the focus of their hearts. He asks them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”  Their answer was simple and unwavering: “Yes, Lord.”  Jesus then stretches out His hand, touches their darkness, and speaks a profound truth over them: “According to your faith let it be done to you.” Immediately, their sight is restored.  It is easy to misinterpret this verse as a formula—as if our faith is a currency that buys God’s favors. But true faith isn't about the amount of confidence we conjure up in ourselves; it's about the Object of our faith. The blind menweren't healed because they had strong willpower; they were healed because they placed complete trust in a Savior who was fully capable. Jesus met them in their darkness, but He required them to step forward in belief. Where in your life are you sitting in darkness, waiting for a light to turn on? Jesus doesn't ask if you have all the answers or if your vision of the future is clear. He simply asks: "Do you believe that I am able?"  When you bring your limits, fears, and broken pieces to Him, His touch bridges the gap between your present struggle and His limitless power. Faith requires active trust. The blind men had to ask, follow, and answer Jesus before their eyes were opened.  Focus on His ability, not your sight: You don't need to see the entire path ahead; you only need to trust the One whoguides you. His touch transforms: Jesus meets us intimately in our deepest areas of weakness and brings His light. Matthew 9:29 asks us a simple question: Do we truly believe God is capable? It is about the connection between personal trust and divine action, what "blind spot" or difficult situation in your life are you currently struggling tohand over to God? When Jesus asks, "Do you believe I am able to do this?", what is your honest answer today?  Faith isn't about conjuring up positive thinking or having every answer lined up. It’s about taking whatever darkness, uncertainty, or limitation you are holding, placing it squarely in Christ's hands, and saying, "Lord, I trust that You are able."
