The Toxic Letter: The Murder of Mary Yoder

Mary Yoder, a 60-year-old chiropractor, died in July 2015 after being poisoned with a lethal dose of colchicine, a toxic substance that was initially mistaken for a severe case of food poisoning. Although an anonymous letter attempted to frame Mary’s son, Adam, for the murder, investigators used DNA evidence and digital forensics to reveal that his girlfriend and office manager, Kaitlyn Conley, had purchased the poison and orchestrated the framing attempt. Kaitlyn was ultimately convicted of first-degree manslaughter and sentenced to 23 years in prison, though she continues to maintain her innocence while some of Mary's family members remain divided over her guilt.
