The summer of 1934 saw Danish author and poet Nis Petersen prepare for the publication of his novel Spildt Mælk – Spilt Milk, which was set in Waterford. Petersen twice visited Waterford in the 1930s, bookending the success of his previous novel, Street of the Sandalmakers (1933).
