The Tree Of Virtue

from Newland Presbyterian Church · host Newland Presbyterian Church

Faith. Hope. and Love. Historically and practically, these qualities are called the "theological virtues," commended to us in 1 Corinthians 13. In the history of the church, they are also paired with the cardinal virtues of practical wisdom, justice, courage, and temperance. Grounded in humility, these characteristics are expressions of love that we can offer to God, even as they also serve as the means of our sanctification. Since last week we focused on what to set aside, in this sermon we are going to focus on what to acquire as we live in Christ - the one who shares his very character, virtue, and being with us by the Spirit, to the praise and glory of God the Father.
