The religious leaders rejected the truth, Herod wanted to be entertained, Pilate feared losing his position, and Barabbas—the guilty man—walked free while the innocent Son of God took his place. Through it all, Jesus stood silent and resolute, bearing the judgment meant for others. We see in these men the reflection of our own hearts: pride, self-interest, and compromise. Yet even for them—and for us—Jesus chose the cross.
