The Truth About Autism ft. Crémieux

This is a free preview of a paid episode. To hear more, visit www.patrickcasey.comCrémieux is a bioinformatician, writer, and Twitter poster. He joins me for a broad discussion on social science, autism, gene editing, and credentialism. To begin, Crémieux recounts his intellectual journey. Next, I ask him to provide a brief overview of his political views. He explains that he isn’t really a conservative. Instead, his primary focus is longevity: living for as long as possible. We then discuss the importance of social science, which some on the right unfairly dismiss. Toward the end of the first half, we explore autism. Why are the rates increasing so dramatically? Crémieux believes he has the answer, and he also believes that the Trump administration is wrong on this. In the second half of the show (available to subscribers), we switch gears a bit to discuss peptides. What are they, and what can they do for you? Crémieux provides a few examples. We then discuss recent advances in gene editing. Apparently it can regrow capillaries in your scalp to revitalize your hairline. It can also regrow capillaries somewhere else. I clarify perhaps too emphatically that, while I find these procedures fascinating from a scientific perspective, I’m in need of neither. Moving along, we discuss credentialism. Crémieux argues that it’s on its way out for various reasons. Is that good or bad? And should we attempt to salvage our universities or create rival institutions? We conclude by talking about Romania’s education system, which succeeds by administering IQ tests to both teachers and students. What can we learn from such a system? Tune in to find out.
