the truth about gaining muscle and losing fat(recomping)

To sign up for my coaching: https://ob-health.com/Ozempic, GLP-1s, body recomposition, cortisol, and the real math behind building muscle while losing fat. This is a long-form solo breakdown of what actually changes your body composition and what the industry sells you instead. I even took a GLP-1 myself so I could understand exactly what my clients feel when they're on one. Here's what we get into: why "the scale not moving" is usually a story you tell yourself, and how slowly you actually build muscle (roughly 1 to 2 pounds a month at best), so a flat scale almost always means a tiny deficit, not a hidden recomp. Why a calorie deficit done wrong can genuinely stall your metabolism when protein, training, and micronutrients are missing, and why "eat less" is the tip of the iceberg (about 95% of Americans don't even hit their fiber). Then the honest GLP-1 deep dive: who these drugs truly help (the chronically obese and diabetics, where they can be life-saving), and why they still get handed out with almost no guidance. The problem isn't one villain, it's the incentive structure. The system pays for a 90-second prescription but not for the hour of nutrition coaching people actually need, so the medication shows up with zero plan attached. Take it without protein and resistance training and you lose muscle and bone right alongside the fat (DXA data shows a large share of the loss can be lean mass), which is a big reason regain is so common once people stop. We've helped clients come off GLP-1s and keep the weight off by teaching them how to eat. I'll also cover the libido question (usually just not enough essential fats), why muscle is the real flex for men and women, and why more strength is tied to lower all-cause mortality. Plus intuitive eating (you have to earn it by tracking first, because you can't listen to a body that's only ever craved hyper-palatable junk), and the cortisol myth: cortisol does not make you fat, it mostly influences where fat sits and can drive stress eating, and it tends to drop as you get leaner. We finish on the supplement and "cortisol test" scams, and a quick rant about the Conor McGregor fight.CHAPTERS0:00 Intro: what we're covering today0:23 Recomposition: why "the scale not moving" is a lie7:02 Why a calorie deficit alone can wreck your metabolism12:26 GLP-1s and Ozempic: the good, the abuse, and the muscle problem21:43 I took a GLP myself, here's what it's actually like23:31 The libido myth on GLPs and diets25:16 The "buy skinny" era: why muscle is the real flex25:44 Intuitive eating: why you have to earn it first30:38 There is no "one magical thing"31:33 The cortisol myth34:39 Cortisol tests, fat burners, and the supplement scams37:58 The Conor McGregor fight (quick rant)Want us to build your nutrition and training the right way, GLP-1 or not?
