The Truth About Hell (Part 2)

What does the Bible actually teach about hell? Is it a real place of eternal judgment, or have modern culture and false teachings distorted what Jesus clearly said? In Part 1 of this important episode of The TRUTH Series, Eric Thompson opens God's Word to examine one of the most misunderstood doctrines in Christianity. Beginning with Matthew 25:46, you'll discover why Jesus spoke about hell more than anyone else and why understanding God's holiness and justice is essential to understanding the Gospel. In this first half, we explore why God created hell, what Scripture says about its purpose, and what the Bible reveals about the reality of eternal punishment. You'll also learn why Jesus' use of the Greek word αἰώνιος (aiōnios)—meaning eternal or everlasting—is one of the strongest biblical arguments against the belief that hell is temporary or that the wicked are simply annihilated. Along the way, Eric references faithful biblical teachers from church history while keeping Scripture as the final authority. This episode is not intended to produce fear for fear's sake. Rather, it points listeners to the holiness of God, the seriousness of sin, and the incredible mercy offered through Jesus Christ. Part 2 will answer common objections about hell, explain why the cross was necessary, and conclude with the life-changing hope of the Gospel. If you've ever wrestled with questions about eternal judgment, this series will help you understand what God's Word truly teaches. Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
