Despite the signalling of both sides of the political spectrum, the jobs numbers are not good. The real numbers are hidden in the labor force participation rate as they have for many many years. Both sides like to tout how many jobs they "created," but don't mention that we now see 25% of income coming from the government via stimulus programs. That's an absolutely shocking number and most of those people after a period of time are not considered unemployed which by itself completely manipulates the labor numbers.
