The Truth Of Living In Puerto Rico - 1 Year Recap

from How to Sell Online · host Alison J. Prince

In this episode, I’m going to move away from the normal business topics that I talk about to share what it’s been like living in Puerto Rico. It’s been a year since my husband and I moved our family from our awesomely comfortable home in Utah to set up base in Puerto Rico, and I’m going to talk about the absolute adventure that it has been for us, some of the things that we've loved, some of the things that we've hated, some of the things that we've struggled through, and some of the things that we have been absolutely impressed with.My kids and I were recently talking about how they've come to like Puerto Rico, and my little guy Lucas told me the most amazing story about how he had prayed about coming here and the prayer helped him be at peace with the move, and even brought him closer to God. That was so amazing because it assured me that moving here was the right decision. Initially I was so concerned that my husband and I may have made the wrong decision for our kids moving them away from their home and friends back in Utah.I’m going to dig into some of the nitty gritties of living here in Puerto Rico, and I’ll kick it off by talking about money and some of the costs of living here. One of the ones that were a total shocker was the electricity costs. We had heard that the electricity costs here were three times the average of the United States, and we didn’t believe it until we got our first electricity bill, and it was a whooping $800. It’s generally been an awesome place to live, with amazing neighbors (and there’s actually a lot of entrepreneurs here who moved from the US), the best sweet bread in the world, and less crowded beaches. There's no over-scheduling here so it's less busy for us, and we can spend more time with the family and just being at peace. It’s also so easy to communicate with people here because a lot of people speak English, and one of the best things for the kids is that they get to drive golf carts to school. There are so many magical things about living here and I hope you love all the insights that I’ll share. Maybe you’ll wanna live here too? Tune in for more.Key Takeaways:Packing their stuff up and moving three bajillion miles away from their comfortable home in Utah (01:14)Knowing that moving to Puerto Rico was the right choice (04:09)Living in an area with mind-blowing neighbors and a lot of entrepreneurs that have moved from the US (07:49)The kids driving golf carts to school, getting Amazon deliveries, and renting versus buying, so we can play on the island (13:05)Some of the annoyances here and how they taught me so much gratitude (16:43)Power outages, super slow nail salons, and watching my kids’ gratitude increase (24:13)Finding the silver lining (the good) in the difficult times we’re experiencing now (29:03)Connect with Alison:FacebookInstagramLinkedIn>>> Join the $1-100k System
