from The Tune'd In Podcast · host Tunde Adigun
Welcome to The Tune'd In Podcast!!!!! (Formerly Known as Dussé & Backwoods) I'm your host TUNDEEEEEE!! Aka Chocolate Papí aka TunGotJokes Twitter/IG/TikTok: @Tungotjokes Special Guest: SHAM 1016 On this episode of TIP, we sit down with a Los Angeles native who is a Rapper, Creative Director/Film Director, Graphic Designer and Fitness Enthusiast who goes by the name Sham1016. We start our conversation with Sham talking about his upbringing in Los Angeles and what his experience was like. Sham expressed to us that although things were regular and kind of normal to him, unfortunately the way he grew up and the things he saw at a young age wouldn't have been deemed normal to others. Because of Sham's family ties to the gang activity, he was introduced to the harsh realities of life at a young age due to his father and uncles gang affiliation and reputation. He talks about how knowing that his family had strong gang ties and connections, made his reality something that was a bit more serious than the average kid growing up where he grew up at. Although he was well protected and guided by his father, his mother and his family members he had to embrace the harsh realities of the gang life when his father, unfortunately had to go to jail for a long period of time, and his uncle was killed when he was a young boy. That understanding of his life gave him a perspective at a young age of what life was about and what his reality was for him and his family. He goes on to explain that his fitness enthusiasm comes from his father and Uncle’s influence due to the fact they encouraged working out based off of the time that they spent in jail and the fitness program that they advocated for him to be a part of at a very young age. Sham goes on to discuss that although growing up in the hood, it had its trials and tribulations, but he found the joy and the beauty of his section that he grew up in, which helped contribute to his artistic view and creative influences that helped shaped his life as he got older. We then transition our conversation to when Sham gets older and moves off to Fresno, California, where he finished high school there and eventually went to Fresno State University. Sham told us that he left Fresno State University and eventually came back to Los Angeles, where he then ended up going to USC where he found himself going over to Belgium for a study abroad program. Even before going abroad, she revealed to us that he had always been a creative kid which gave him the motivation that he needed to be his own support system. Seeing that he didn’t grow up with any siblings and was pretty much an only child, it was easy for him to embrace his creative and artistic skills. At a point in time in our conversation we later start to discuss how the city of Los Angeles truly molded and shaped Sham's, confidence, and personality to the point he has not only become a staple in the city, but has been a voice of Los Angeles culture when it comes to justifying all the great things that Los Angeles has to offer. Even to the point where he went viral for a video that he did talking about Los Angeles transplants who come to Los Angeles from other states to complain about the things that are happening here in Los Angeles specifically. Like usual, our listeners are definitely in for a treat, and like alway this is one you do not want to miss! So sit back and enjoy the crazy world of The Tune’d In Podcast. Yay! Yay!
