from The Tune'd In Podcast · host Tunde Adigun
Welcome to The Tune'd In Podcast!!!!! (Formerly Known as Dussé & Backwoods) I'm your host TUNDEEEEEE!! Aka Chocolate Papí aka TunGotJokes Twitter/IG/TikTok: @Tungotjokes Special Guest: 99 Wayne Mike On this episode of TIP, we sit down with a Los Angeles native by the name of “Mike” who is the owner and creator of the Los Angeles based media platform “99 Wayne”. We first start our conversation off by discussing with Mike what it was like for him growing up here in Los Angeles. He lets us know as a Los Angeles native that Los Angeles was a very exciting and premiere time to be a teenager and a Los Angeles native in the early 2000s. Mike talks about how he grew up in the Inglewood area and how growing up in that area could be deemed tough for people who weren’t natives of Los Angeles, but for him he was able to navigate through having a two parent household and a solid father figure in his life. Mike also let us know that he was able to have a solid childhood due to his father constantly making sure that he stayed on the right path. And even though some of his friends veered off into the gang culture and gang banging, he was a young man who always stay true to who he was and out of the street life. When asked why he didn’t join gangs or be involved with gang activity, even though he was actively outside, he responded that he knew early in his youth that gangbang culture was something that wasn’t for him, and that he didn’t want to find himself down that wrong path with certain individuals. We later go on to discuss about how the party scene in Los Angeles was completely different than it has been in recent times. Mike goes into detail about how the party scene transitioned from typical club parties, skating rink parties, and venue parties, later to be turned into house parties, which are now known as “Kickbacks.” We discussed how the party life changed for Los Angeles natives due to the fact that places like Hollywood was deemed the hotspot for Los Angeles natives when they were in their teenage years. Not only did we talk about how crazy and exciting the night life was, we also discussed how dangerous it could’ve been due to the fact that where certain parties were at, gang activity could erupt at any moment. Outside of the dangers that could come from being on the party scene frequently, Mike found himself building a large network and cultivating quality relationships that will later allow him to be well connected and respected throughout Los Angeles. To the point where he was able to gain momentum as a manager for local Los Angeles artist and build a brand that later would be developed into the “99 Wayne” media platform. Like usual, our listeners are definitely in for a treat, and like alway this is one you do not want to miss! So sit back and enjoy the crazy world of The Tune’d In Podcast. Yay! Yay!
