What happens when life punches us in the mouth and our best plans fall apart? Genesis 4:25-26 picks up after one of the most devastating chapters in all of Scripture, where murder, exile, and spreading sin seemed to have the final word. And yet, right in the middle of all that brokenness, something remarkable happens. A child is born, a mother recognizes the hand of God, and a people begin to call upon the name of the Lord. These two verses carry a powerful truth that speaks directly to wherever we find ourselves today: God is not finished. Grace still comes, even when the story looks like it has gone too far off course to recover. Eve does not pretend the pain never happened. She names it. She remembers Abel. But she also sees what God is doing right now, in the present, and she calls it grace. That is the kind of biblical hope we are invited into, not a denial of what has been lost, but a genuine expectation that God can bring new beginnings into stories already marked by real brokenness.
