The Ultimate Guide to Hormone Replacement Therapy

from Grown-Ass Woman's Guide

Today is the first in our Healthy You series, four episodes in October to help you feel your best through the transitions and changes that can happen in life over 40 and beyond. We’re just about 90 days out from the new year. Let’s not move feeling good to the back burner and leave it for 2020. Now is the time. In this episode, we talk with Dr. Liz Lyster about all things hormones.  So you think you understand the benefits and risks of hormone replacement therapy, huh? Yup, so did I. Until I met Dr. Liz Lyster. Dr. Liz shares her years of expertise in treating many women (and men) through hormonal changes, including menopause and peri-menopause. Trust me when I say, I didn't know what I didn't know about the risks and benefits of hormone replacement therapy. This was a hugely enlightening conversation for me and I'm confident it can help you too.  Dr. Liz answers: How do I know if I'm in menopause? What is happening to my body? How long does peri-menopause last? How long can I take hormone replacement? Can hormone replacement therapy cause cancer?   About Dr. Liz Dr. Liz Lyster is an OB/GYN medical doctor, best-selling author and speaker, and an expert in peri-menopause and menopause. In her private practice in the San Francisco Bay area, she helps women and men in midlife and beyond lose weight, have more energy, increase their motivation and drive, and generally feel great. She graduated from Cornell University, went to medical school at UC Irvine, and got her Masters degree at UCLA in Community Health Education. Dr. Liz walks her own talk – when she turned 50 a few years ago, she celebrated by climbing to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa. Dr. Liz has two young adult sons, and enjoys hiking and Argentine tango with her husband.
