The Ultimate MassUp

from Sermons-First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco · host First Unitarian Universalist Society of San Francisco

The Ultimate MassUp (November 24, 2019) This Sunday is BIG MUSIC Sunday. If you've never been to one, hold on to your hat and be sure to fasten your seat belts. Actually, DO grab a seat and belt yourself in. We sold out last Sunday at Hertz Hall in Berkeley and those who sat in the aisles may come again THIS SUNDAY to experience it again---to say nothing of those planning to spend $20 at the door who were turned away. It fills up the service in several ways this Sunday, complete with an actual programme and a freewill donation towards our "Alex Post" Fund which support special sharing of this kind in the future. With a chorus of 180, soloists and 45-piece orchestra (If you extrapolate the Hamilton orchestra with this, the comparable ticket price would be over $4,000) we would not want to perform for a congregation smaller than the performing forces! The balcony will be open for overflow congregants. You will NOT want to miss "The Ultimate Mass-Up....a mash-up of movements from the greatest masses ever written". I poured a lot into the arrangement of the music and hope even the most non-Catholic attendee will find great pleasure, beauty and surprise in this incredible playlist. It will also feature our two newest church soloists, VanNessa Hulme and Brielle Nelson. We're putting the "Big" into Big Music Sunday so please put it in your calendar in Big letters for this Sunday! Dr. Mark Sumner, Music Director Rev. Vanessa Rush Southern, Senior Minister Reiko Oda Lane, organ Bill Ganz, keyboard Brielle Nelson, mezzo soprano Holly Lewis, soprano Gilead Wurman, baritone René Minneboo, baritone VanNessa Hulme, soprano Asher Davison, soloist Tim Salaver, soloist Jim Hillendahl, soloist Anthony White, soloist Kealie Pretzlav, soloist Allen Biggs, percussion Don Shearer, video camera Jonathan Silk, OOS, Sound, Podcasting, Video Edits
