However, this movie seems to be trying to push you away with its absurd premise. Somewhere amid this complex, knotted work that practically suffocates itself is a lovely story about Black women with high dreams who run into life's crushing realities. Despite its lofty goals, Mabry's good intentions aren't enough to preserve what seems like a small work.
