The unconditional love of a family pet

A friend of mine's 4 year old family cat had to be put down and they loved her so much and knew her unconditional love for them. 1 John 3:16 tells us of Jesus that "We know love by this, that He lay down His life for us - and we ought to lay down our lives for one another". Our hearts tells us that this signifies Jesus's unconditional love towards us. It has also made me think on the fact that as our Life giver Jesus made the supreme sacrifice of becoming fully human with tiredness, hunger and pain etc, but also letting go of His life power for us. Because he had no sin, death could not hold Him and He has given us that same gift of eternal life through having taken all our sin, but nevertheless He did die before he was resurrected as otherwise the word resurrected does not apply. Jesus died for us because of His unconditional love for us which we can relate to on a lighter level with a faithful family pet, hence the picture of a friend's cat I had today.
