The Undead Curse

The undead—beings that are deceased yet animate—appear across ancient folklore, pop culture, and gaming. In the Dark Souls universe, the Undead Curse is a central element tied to the Darksign, which brands humans and forces them into an endless cycle of resurrection. Deprived of true death, these cursed individuals gradually lose their humanity and sanity, ultimately degenerating into mindless, violent husks known as "Hollows".
