While on a cruise, Peter and Debbie meet Elsa, a strange but enchanting American woman and in her eyes their best friend. When she invites herself to stay with them a few months later, they finally look her up and discover her deadly secret but it’s too late! As Elsa quickly makes herself at home the two must find a way to get rid of her politely, and not let her cook them dinner. A frightfully funny and satirical look at the middle-class English instinct to always be good hosts, The Unfriend was first performed at the Minerva Theatre, Chichester in 2022, before a run in the West End in 2023. This modern comedy of manners is the first stage play written by Steven Moffat, an award-winning writer for Doctor Who, Sherlock and Dracula.
