René Cassin exists to promote human rights values. We are named after the French-Jewish co-author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Drafted in response to the atrocities of the Second World War, the Declaration articulated a comprehensive set of principles for a just global future. It has formed the foundation of virtually all subsequent human rights instruments, including the European Convention on Human Rights and the UK’s Human Rights Act.   With the rise of authoritarian nationalism abroad and populist intolerance at home, that precious legacy is under serious threat. Given the Declaration’s foundational status, its origins, and its authorship, we believe a Jewish voice has a unique role in defending and promoting human rights. René Cassin uses Jewish experience and values to mobilise UK Jewish community support for the rights of other minorities, particularly on issues (such as genocide, asylum and modern slavery) that resonate with Jewish history.   Find out more: René Cassin: www.renecassin.orgBeyond Borders Scotland: https://www.beyondbordersscotland.com/ Beyond Borders International Festival: http://www.bbintfest.com/
