The Universal Language of Storytelling -- Doug Greiff (Co-Founder, MiTú)

from All Things Video · host James Creech

Doug Greiff is the Co-Founder of MiTú, a digital media company that brings a Latino POV to mainstream entertainment. Prior to MiTú, Doug worked at VH1 and then spent 10 years at Nickelodeon, primarily in program development. He and his wife Beatriz Acevedo started a production company for Latino content in 2001 – beginning a journey that culminated in the launch of MiTú in early 2012. In this episode, we discuss the universal language of storytelling and how Latino content is quickly becoming mainstream. Doug shares his experience transitioning from traditional entertainment to the world of digital media and the many lessons learned along the way: differences in story pacing, how to create binge-watch programming, and casting digital influencers to help with promotion. Finally, we explore MiTú’s decision to focus on U.S. Hispanics and adopt a digital publisher strategy, building a brand and creating original content for that audience.
