They use the stones to create temporary localized safe zones, allowing the sugar glaze to cure successfully on the sleighs. However, upon inspection, Mrs Periwinkle discovers that while the stones absorb the cold, they also desiccate and weaken the material they rest upon, revealing that the Grotto Seals are a costly counter-agent that sacrifices structural integrity for temporary thermal stabilization.
