Our relationship with government is not static but changes. Prophets were engaged with leadership. God has a different timeframe and often judges 100 years after the sin. Like Noah who took 100 years to build the ark, there is often a remnant who stands for truth. We want to be part of that remnant. Government and leaders are answerable to God not to the people. Romans 13:1-4. The government's first job is to keep evil people from being as evil as they want to be and to encourage people to be as good as they can be. In the end times, the government will switch it around and promote evil as good while calling good evil. Daniel 6:3-4, 6-8. There was no fault found in Danel, so the jealous satraps made a law to make good "evil" and evil "good". They commanded to suspend religious activity for 30 days. The same day, Daniel continued to pray as usual and he gave thanks! Perhaps he thanked the Lord for an opportunity to stand for the Lord. There should be things more important than life to me and the history of our country shows us that. By standing for what is right, we are not trying to dishonor or overthrow those in leadership but we just want them to see the light. We need to pray. When God finally intervenes is when the people cry out to Him! Jesus said we should be wise as serpents yet harmless as doves.
