Do you hear that? People talking? Yeah, like shouting. You know what I'm saying?
Fresh shouting over the lumbar, right? It's gonna be a great episode. Hey Dan. Hey what's up?
Not much man. What's going on? What's going on? What's going on?
What's going on? What's going on? Not a lot. Yeah, work, work, work.
How's it not drinking? I fucking hate you, man. I mean, hey, we gotta talk about it. Why are we gonna talk about it?
No booze. Why are we gonna talk about it? Sober October? Well, to be fair, I am sober.
Oh man, that totally doesn't count. Totally does. No, totally doesn't. So Dan's quit drinking and I've quit drinking and smoking.
I came home and had a shot today. Yeah, Dan totally fell cave today. Yeah. I quit smoking cigarettes.
You couldn't not drink. That's right. Didn't even make it two weeks. Nope.
11 days. And I was totally fine with it at the time. And I keep ragging on him. Yeah, making me feel even worse.
Couldn't even enjoy it. So I immediately feel guilty. I could let you down. Let myself down.
You thought yourself down. You felt guilty before you even thought about it. I haven't even told me. I felt guilty before I took the shot.
I loved you. I thought you just did it. I had lots of second thoughts and I was like fucking man. I've already poured it.
Yeah. If I just stick my tongue in there. Well, that was my first time. Like, you know, just pull it off the bottle like he then.
I'm like, no. So you might hear the background, uh, some lawn mulching going on. Hopefully I get it taken out. Hopefully you don't hear it.
But if you do, that's what that noise is. And it's gonna be here the whole episode. Yeah, probably not. It only takes like 20 minutes to mow my lawn.
Yeah, it's pretty small lawn. Yeah, then my wife's doing boom. Yeah. How'd you manage that?
I don't know. It's her thing. She likes mowing the lawn. That's why I thought she said she was going to mose.
No, I think she's as excuse to not go to the gym. Like, I can't go to the gym. I have to mow the lawn today. Yeah.
Man, I wish I had those problems. I don't even know how the problem were. I gotta go to the gym. Right.
She feels guilty about going to the gym at least three days a week. I did not have that. No. I feel guilty if I don't carb load one day a week.
Yeah. Oh, so I haven't pretty good on the dieting though. I mean, so that's one aspect that we were not really mentioning. The dans doing pretty good on the carb thing.
Didn't you have a nice one coming the other day? Yeah. One time. I'm just saying.
Hey, man, I'm even being, I'm gaining weight at a rapid pace. Yeah. I can feel it. My daughter's birthday.
So this past weekend, we had like 14 donuts left over. Your shirt is tighter by the end of the day than it was beginning. Dude, yeah. This isn't too anymore.
We had 14 donuts in our house. Left over? Left over. Oh, no.
You just kind of throw those out or give them to the dog or something. We ended up throwing them out. But then on top of that, last night she wanted to go yesterday was actually her birthday birthday. She went to a Japanese restaurant in Hibachi.
That's not so bad. You can do meat and veggies there. Yeah, ate all the rice. Hibachi is all the rice is the best part.
What are you talking about? I ate so much last night that I think caused my blood pressure to drop because I was like dizzy. And then guess what? I had today.
My wife's left over Japanese food for lunch. Yeah, I'm not going to feel it all bad about that shot. No, my throat feels fat. Just speaking.
It's hard for me to get words out. So this week we're talking voodoo. Voodoo, yeah. Did you get anything on the other thing?
It's real. Yeah. I went to show. I think we both had pretty busy weeks.
It's kind of crazy. Sorry if anyone even noticed, but last week's episode was out a little late due to technical difficulties and just all around troubles. All you listeners out there. Oh, yeah.
You listeners. We got out on a Tuesday. It was just Tuesday night. Yeah, Tuesday night at like 9 p.m.
Eastern. Whatever. Yeah, we try. Doesn't always work out.
We're not sorry. I like the substance. Yeah, so we both been slammed. But yeah, I got to get on some voodoo, man.
So what are some things you think of when you hear voodoo? I immediately think voodoo doll. The weird tall black guy in the James Bond movie that goes like every five minutes. And was it Dr.
voodoo, papa voodoo from the Constantine TV show? It's based on a comic book. I think that's why I think of Papa like, but yeah, he is like the Viva. All right.
Let's go back to where Voodoo started. Okay, let's say West West. How does it go? A North Central West African religion.
What about Eastern? Yeah, that's what it's just that's where it originates from due to slavery. That's how I got over to Haitian Haitian. I got over Haiti West Indies.
That's where you kind of know voodoo from most of the stuff you think when you think voodoo is from Haiti or Louisiana. Yeah, probably. In the early 1800s, there was a giant what he called slave revolt. That's the word for it in Haiti and Haiti and basically they performed this big voodoo ritual and then went around and killed all the slave owners burned all the plantations and a ton of them flocked over to New Orleans.
No kidding. That's how it ended up in New Orleans. Wow. Yeah, like they get into a little bit on the second season of preacher.
Really? I think that's why it's been sticking to my brain lately. I've never really understood where it came from or why that was a religion at all. And I always wondered why is it just Louisiana is the only place you think of voodoo.
Like when you think voodoo, that's the place you think of. Yeah. Some Caribbean place. Yeah, I guess so.
I mean, Haiti, obviously. But yeah, so that's how it ended up in America though. Not just Haiti though. Yeah, not just Haiti.
Yeah. There's a bunch of different places that do practice. Obviously we're an originator over in Western Africa. It's actually like 60% of the people.
Nigeria. Man, I didn't write down the countries. But it's like 60% of the people practice voodoo. So did Santa Ria come up in your study?
Yeah. I started to see some stuff when I was trying to look up like the different tools that voodoo practitioners use. And would you find out about what? Well, Santa Ria means almost directly like worshiped the saints or blessings of the saints.
I'm not entirely sure. I don't remember exactly. But very similar. It's almost exactly the same idea.
So Santa Ria came about because also Western Africa, what most people call like a heathen religion. But it's a polytheistic religion, multiple gods. Similar fashion. People were captured and brought to the Americas.
The centrieta is mostly in Cuba. But centria came about because in order to hide their beliefs, they attached the deities to Catholic saints. Voodoo did the same exact thing. Yeah.
Yeah. So a lot of similarities. It's almost the exact same religion. Yeah.
Basically, actually voodoo Catholicism recognizes voodoo as like a right because religion because there's so much similarities because they had to basically, you know, if they wanted to praise, you know, if they wanted to worship like Papa, Papa Legba, he's basically the gatekeeper between the spirit world and mortals. Right. So they say instead of worshiping Papa Legba, they'd worship Saint Peter. Right.
Kind of the same idea. Yeah. And so that's cool. I mean, it kind of sucks that they had to hide it because right.
Like so when all the slaves were brought over, they were by the Spaniards. They were forced to be baptized. Yeah. Same thing with the voodoo people.
Right. The voodoo people. It's weird though. I saw something that it was the French in Haiti.
Yeah. That's who they killed off the French who had them enslaved. Yeah. I don't think they I don't think there was ever like a slave revolt like you're talking about in Cuba.
I think it just grew over time. One of the stories I read was a big thing in Saint Ria is like, crystal ball healing. I can't help it. I had to make at least one sublime.
Yeah. Cerebral. Damn it. Not for you.
I'm not saying. No uprising. Oh, yeah. So a big thing in Saint Ria is they have a lot of healers, I guess, and a lot of like holistic medicine, synergy, mind, body, soul, all that stuff, but a lot of herbalism and some of it's still recognized by like the pharmaceutical board in Cuba.
Why? It's like, you know, an actual working remedies and stuff like that. For example, lemongrass is good for low blood pressure and inflammation. Had no idea.
Did not know that. Just thought it was a weird thing that, you know, spiced up some Thai food with. I like it. Yeah, like some lemon, not all the time though.
I'm thinking of pepper lemon pepper, lemongrass. It's kind of a funky flavor, but I'm into it. You hear that? People talking?
Yeah, like shouting. Yeah, probably shouting over the lumbar, right? That's gonna be a great episode. And then we're getting one out.
So now with Voodoo, a lot of what people think when they think Voodoo like Voodoo dolls and bad mojo curses, that's actually like the opposite of what Voodoo even is. There are people who do practice, they call it red magic. Oh, okay. Instead of like black magic, this is called red magic, which is what they're basically in the deep South in America, who prides that and it's called Hoodoo.
Oh, okay. Within age instead of a V, but it's not technically religion. It's just they've basically just jacked all the spells and charms and all the stuff that they would need to curse people and, huh, things like that. And I read somewhere that the way that that works is like people who perform things called bow, bow, bow, bow, bow, bow, bow.
Yeah, which is their bad magic. Huh. So even the good priestess and priest have to know the bad magic. Basically, they think of it as you have to know something to stop something.
Okay, that makes sense. Because the whole purpose of the priest and priestess are to actually fight against people who work the black magics. Oh, really? Oh, they're not just like a spiritual leader.
Well, that too. But, you know, they have trying to think of what I was talking about. Yeah, the bow core, bow core, those are the people who use the black magic. And they're more of a, they're mostly what they do is poisons.
Yeah, poison to Pharaohs. Yeah, or like creating poisons to poison people. Like that's their main. Well, yeah.
Poison people. Like to put in food and stuff. I don't know. Poison, poison people.
So in Voodoo though, as far as like their main form of worship is possession. Believe it or not. But that's how they communicate. They don't like pray.
They actually become possessed by and they're not gods. Spirits. Yeah, they're spirits. Laul.
Laul. Laul. Laul. A.
Laul. Yeah. Is OSHA and only show something about in century. Like only means consciousness and Shah means like protector.
So like the protector of your consciousness. Hmm. But it's a very similar theme. It's see and like you were saying with the Christian and you haven't to relate with certain saints.
They're also more like Catholicism. But yeah, Catholicism is not something. It's also tiered like that. You know, like the father of the son of the Holy Spirit, but it's, you know, Bondi, which is like their God, like the God of all.
Right. They call him the good God. Even though there's not really a bad God and then there's a low owl, which are like the spirits and then there's mortal. So it's like a three tier thing.
Just like, oh, okay, that is a little different with century. It's more like, you know, much about Shinto, which is kind of like an animal. Yeah. Yeah.
But there's, you know, really only animal in representation, you know, it might be a fox, but it's like the river God or whatever. You know what I mean? And so they have 400 plus one, which is interesting because they don't say 401. They say 400 plus one plus one because they do have like a father spirit.
I don't remember his name, but apparently there's like five like main spirits that primarily from Africa, but they, they believe that they, you know, travel the world. But it's also possession, like possessions is a big part of it. I don't know. It's not necessarily part of their praying, but it can be like it's like a higher level of worship.
Like if you're like in tune with the spirits and you've gone through like your initiation, like the spirits, if they like you will possess you and they'll like, they'll want to get drunk or. Yeah. Same thing. And Voodoo, like when you're possessed, like some of the low owl enjoy drinking rum, like a lot of them enjoy drinking rum and smoking and like, you get possessed to go drink and smoke weird.
Yeah. There's a lot of dancing, percussion, a lot of drums and we'll sacrifice and we'll sacrifice. But it's not like bad animal sacrifice. It's usually like quick and then they eat it.
It's not like you. Yeah, it's realistic. Yeah. Which I mean, that's present in most cultures, that Jewish culture, all the Old Testament stuff.
A lot of it has to be killed a certain way or. Oh, yeah. Well, not even kosher. I mean, that's more Judaic, but it's, you know, the ancient Hebrews, according to the Bible, had all these instructions.
For some time. Yeah. On how to atone for sin and it was, if you purposely trip your buddy, then, you know, that's like a rat and two goats or something. You know, something cool to do, make when they sacrifice animals?
What's that? They mix the blood from sacrifice with rum syrup and salt. Weird. And they either drink it or that's what they like the marker cross on their forehead or.
Well, yeah, I have seen that. That just actually sounds something I want to taste. And we'll let it pass. I mean, just for one time.
I don't know man. It's kind of stuff. The herbalists do something similar for centuries. But it's like, I don't know, they like mix in like ashes from a fire and I think it is some sort of part of the ritual animal.
Maybe like ashes from the fire you cooked the sacrifice over. Yeah, and they make this thing, you know, with like herbs and all kinds of stuff. Like if you go to like a high level, you're either there's something that's called like the fucking this up. It's like the bread of the gods or something like that.
But it's not necessarily always recommended that you eat it. Well, I mean, for some people it is like they have a firm belief that things that are going either wrong in your life or wrong in your body, like health wise mean that you're out of balance in some way. And so either herbs or ritual or, you know, these little potions and spells that they do are really all to bring your body kind of like holistically back into balance. Yeah.
And so, you know, there's extreme cases where they're like, yeah, you need this really intense shit. So am I wrong? And I think of Santa Ria, I think Chris, the balls and chicken bones, chicken bones, or am I thinking of something? Maybe they do have like a like read read bones and stuff like that.
Kind of a lot of them use shells shells. Yeah. There's a strong fortune telling. It's not so much fortune telling as it is like it's almost more like divination.
Like the spirits will like sort of guide you almost like tarot. Like there's stories associated with the combinations. Like there's one dude I was watching a video on. He had like a bag of like 22 puka shells and he was like, but we only use 16 of them.
Because numerically, 16 is the presence of God. And he was like, based on what position they're in, there's like 256 possible combinations. Yeah. And then for he said, for each combination, there's 400 different stories for each combination.
Oh, wow. Like if you're like a high level, he kept saying the Godfather, but I guess that's to them, it means, you know, basically like a high priest. Yeah. Like if you're a Godfather, you're, I mean, it sounds like a master storyteller.
Like you have the right parable or cautionary tale for somebody's life based on, you know, with the, the shells or I guess they could probably use chicken bones. Well, yeah, with the voodoo, they, they have something called a gris gris. I've heard of space, a little talisman, usually basically a voodoo doll could be a gris gris. It's just any type of talisman and basically always keep it in, I believe your left pocket and you're the only one who should see, ever see or hold your gris gris.
I was like, I told him it's almost like to remind you to daily practice voodoo daily. It's always always always in your mind. So did you get into anything like, you know, that isn't movies like curses and voodoo dolls? I mean, I was more interested in the fact that most of that stuff's like not really like a voodoo doll.
Like there are voodoo dolls, but they're not designed to like cause harm. You know, the more, more design like they would pin things to them with pens. That's where they kind of probably would took the whole painting thing. So they would pin like a picture or pin money to it to kind of show the, the luau, what they want.
Like this person wants to do this. And you know, when they get possessed, it's more of that spirit comes into their body and either guides or not really tells fortune. Just kind of guides or gives good advice to the people. That's the whole point of being possessed is to speak with the spirit and they, you know, get on their side by giving them sacrifices, you know, sacrifices, whether it's just regular food or animals or anything they have to sacrifice money.
Like they'll burn money and stuff. Whoa. And whereas the people who practice the, the bow, the, the bow, the bow, cowl, whatever, the bad magic. Sure.
They, they're bribing the spirits with what with the same stuff, but this is a bribe. It's not a like just a sacrifice. And that's okay. So in a sense, they're like, instead of a blessing, I want you to fuck somebody up and I'll do this ritual so that you'll.
Yeah. So you'll listen to me, but it's not so that my aunt gets over her head cold or whatever and they say there's not any bad spirits. What it is is the bribing of the spirit corrupts that spirit says the person causing spirit to be corrupt. Weird.
That's kind of backwards from what, you know, commonly. Fizzling. Yeah, exactly. It's a other world of spirit corrupting me.
Yeah. It's the opposite is we're just corrupting the spirit, which I thought was super interesting. But then there's also like mojo bags, which are basically a spell in a bag, everything they need for a spell like in a bag that usually made out of red flannel. Really?
Yeah. I don't know why specific thing, but that's what everything I've read. Rock fans. But yeah, they just, um, yeah, it's much interesting stuff about video, man.
I was not expecting it to be. You see the movies and you think, yeah, they're going to do like getting skulls around and yeah, yeah, exactly. Yeah. The zombification thing.
Like I can't imagine that came up. I was just looking into St. Terea. I was like, okay, well, this is a fairly old misunderstood religion.
Yes. That's been blown out of proportion because, I mean, really, if you think about it, polytheistic religions have been around for a long time, you know, sort of spread out, you know, as, as you move evolution went and either moved to Easter West. I mean, that's kind of how you would explain, you know, the Greek and Roman myths. Yeah.
And then even like the Norse myths, it's all very similar to that same idea of, you know, multi-year teas. God of the field and a God of horses and, you know, a goddess of waves. Yeah. And snakes are really prevalent in voodoo.
And you know, Christianity, you think snake bad, but in voodoo, snake was actually the creator he created humans. He gives the world life. Weird. So that's like the only thing that was kind of inverse to Christianity.
That's really strange. It's weird to me that it's so much different. The accounts that I either saw in a video or read about, I mean, they're just as passionate about their religion as any anybody else in Christianity or wherever, you know, even like the stuff we looked at on possession where they're just like, yeah, this shit is real. And they feel the same way and they're like, yeah, I was possessed by the great African spirit and he tested me because I have this guy.
I can see spirits like this. This one dude on video was saying like he was inducted into Santa Maria pretty quickly because he had like traveled the world and studied multiple religions, you know, was exposed to voodoo, but didn't really get into it. You know, studied Islam, Christianity, Buddhism, Shinto and made his way back to the States and was like in a bar somewhere and like started talking to this guy. And there's just like normal dude sitting at a bar and he said there was this big black lady dressed in blue and white.
They kept picking up his drink and drinking out of it and sending it back down. He was like, do you know, there's a quite large woman next to you drinking your alcohol? You can see that really. Yeah.
And he was like, yeah, come with me. There was a same deal like he met as the dude's Godfather or whatever and the Godfather went into a trance. Trans is a real big in Santa Maria. There's a whole method for, yeah, I guess I guess that would kind of falling with praying like you were saying.
It was like a whole method for, you know, invoking the spirits and then, you know, once you're possessed, then other people can communicate and the Godfather called for some adopted child of his from Africa because the spirit didn't speak English. Oh, see with. And this guy was like, I don't know why, but I could understand it just fine. And he was like, well, if you can see me, describe me.
And he said, as soon as I started describing him, I was possessed and I woke up on the ground like I was wearing a really nice suit because, you know, I didn't really know what he meant by Godfather. I thought he meant like Italian Godfather. And so I thought I was going to meet, you know, somebody in the mafia. So I was trying to look really nice.
I know what kind of opportunity this was going to be. And he's like, I woke up pissed because my suit was like in tatters and apparently just like he said, I was like just like chugging booze and smoking cigars like nobody's business. And that's how they say I'm foodie like the people who possess. They don't, it's like they fell asleep and they just wake up and so they don't even know what happened.
Yeah. And you know, they even say, you know, they're not, they're not worried about getting cancer or, you know, anything like they're not worried about waking up drunk because it's the spirit doing that stuff. So they don't actually get any of the effects of it. Brilliant.
Sounds like an excuse to be. Genius. Yeah. How do you feel about that, man?
It's just a totally different world view of religion. And it seems just based in the ancient way of looking at the world. When when I originally thought of Santa Ria, I was thinking of what's the thing you were talking about, which guys, the warlock guys. Oh, the brujos.
Yeah. Is that not Santa Ria? No. What is that?
That's more Native American. That's more Native American. I thought that was part of Santa Ria. No.
Okay. See, I was getting my nose. Those are Indians. I was getting my, you know, misunderstood.
Religions confused. Yeah. And I'm not really. I'm sorry.
I told like, we were all both. Step it on. Go ahead. Okay.
You sure? All right. I might have to go. I don't know.
I don't know. I can hate you. Whoo. Fizz water.
You need to break. Take another shot. Oh, me. Okay.
Stop it. I'll stop after today. Stop it. I'm done.
I feel like we're really known to stop it Dan. Are we? Yeah. But same time we're three minutes in and I feel like we've run out of stuff to talk about a little bit.
I mean, I'm a little bit disappointed, honestly, about that. They're both kind of the same. Well, not that they're, I had a feeling that they were pretty closely related. I don't know.
I just thought there was more to it. Yeah. It would be more mysterious just because of how, you know, media portrays it. Yeah.
They're really just both extremely misunderstood. Yeah. I mean, they're not all that different from like somebody who still worships like Greek gods. It's like any of the pagan religions really.
Yeah. And all pagan means is not Christian. Yeah. Or not, you know, one of the big three.
Well, I guess I'll fly through some other notes about Vudu. Yeah. You said how many spirits are gods today? They say 401.
400 plus one. Plus one. Sorry. I know your religion more than you.
But I'm, yeah, and Vudu, there's like 131 or 121. I can remember those two. Yeah, quite a few. But yeah, that many different spirits and yeah, they serve the spirits instead of praying to them.
Yeah, that's kind of the idea. It seems similar. Like they celebrate the spirits. It's not necessarily prey to it's more like worship.
So they'll have like ritualistic ceremonies. You know, it's ceremonies like they'll ceremoniously kill a rooster. And you know, they'll burn half of it in, you know, the little special brazier and then, you know, they'll cook the rest of it for the family or for the church or whatever. Well, see like, where's a day of the dead in Mexico?
What's that called? More to do more to do more to do more to do more to do more to that. I don't know. See, I thought that was all sent.
I thought Santerie was more like Mexican Hispanic. Oh, well, I mean, yeah, like where does the question of quite a lot of loop come from? I mean, it's not the Virgin Mary, but it but it is. And then she was sort of adopted by like cartels because it's like the angel of death or something.
Yeah. So that's why that's popular. It must be something, some other religion where I'm just mashing into these boxes. I think what they should fit in.
Yeah, it must just be because I didn't know a lot about it and everything I did know about it was like, oh, zombies and curses and, you know, basically like Caribbean witchcraft. And it's really not that. Yeah. And the reason why it got so like popular, I guess, in media is because when during one of the wars, we were stationed in Haiti.
And so, you know, all these sailors are coming back talking about these people being possessed and the media starts writing books and making movies and right. I was just, it's just, it's just understood. I guess well, and then, you know, the one thing I didn't get into and now that I think about it, I probably should have looked into it. I heard you hear every single.
I haven't had a haircut recently, which is a problem. It's coming in different. No, just as super sweaty today. Just today.
Always been crazy, but like the what do the centreons centreons I don't know what they believe about afterlife didn't get into it. I didn't get into that about you either, man. We're just didn't even come up. Like it wasn't even a thing.
I mean, that's kind of strange too, because I know that they believe like their ancestors and all are still here. So they like almost become like a under the law. Like you could still get possessed by your ancestor. Right.
It's like a spirit world. So it's kind of like dying is not really dying. It's just moving on to the next step of life. Yeah, good point.
I think I did get into that a little bit, but it is sort of a another dimension, but it's not necessarily like. Yeah, they don't really get into it. They don't have like what you call like a heaven or hell, but you know, neither does the Old Testament, by the way. It doesn't really talk about what happens to you when you die.
The hell is not an Old Testament. No, I mean, it doesn't say that you'll go there. It is a place though. It is a place.
And I guess New Testament is like, listen to what we say. Well, actually, I don't know. I don't know if it says anything about hell in the Old Testament. I think it might just say the cast from heaven.
Yeah, Satan and everyone like him was thrown to the earth. I completely. This is hell. It feels like some days, especially when we're not drinking.
So bitch, you gotta keep it. I'm saying it was hell. I wasn't saying it's almost more. It's almost more hell.
Just, you know, wondering. It's not like it's like fun. What if you die and it's just black and just you know, you're dead and actually wouldn't be too bad. Yeah, just a not existing war.
You would know you don't exist. Yeah, did you know you didn't exist for your born? No, exactly. What do you go when you die?
I don't know. I see where before you're born. I don't remember that. Exactly.
That's just as feasible. Yeah, nobody knows. I could go to clouds. I feel about the animal slaughter thing.
But you know what? This is the way I look at at least with voodoo. It's not like they're killing any animal just to kill them. Like they use they cook the animal and eat it as part of the ritual as well.
Right. So it's not like it's going to waste. They actually, you know, if they do it quickly. So if it's a cow or something that they slid it through, whereas if it's a chicken, they break its neck.
It's super quick. I mean, it's just like they would slaughter it, but they're slaughtering in the name of something. I suppose it was outlawed. Yeah, even at the federal level.
Come up, Voodoo or no, yeah, Saint Rhea. Well, the sacrifice was outlawed. Unless you had a slaughtering license. Well, not a lot of religious folk go after a slaughtering license.
So people get, you know, I don't know how much trouble you get in for that, really? I mean, kill and eat it. I mean, animal cruelty. I mean, do you go to jail for that?
I say this weird. I mean, I guess if it's an animal, they consider it, you know, if you kill your dog and eat your dog, I'm sure you'll get in trouble for that. But why versus if you're chickens and you kill your chicken and eat your chicken? That is strange.
Like it just because it's livestock. Like could I kind of go through it? I think it has. I don't think you could do it in public.
But I think as long as it's a livestock animal and you own it, I don't think there's any reason why as long as you didn't do it. And I mean, the worst thing word is a word. I guess that's gambling. So cruel and unusual.
Not cruel and unusual punishment, but like in a, I don't know what you're saying. Yeah, just cruelty to animals. Yeah, as long as you're not a dick about it. Right.
Don't shoot it in eyeballs with BB guns. Oh, man. Or a bird on a times with it. Yeah, I think about that.
And it was everything. Really? Do you know how poor I am right now? I had a dream last night that I was so excited because I was playing a slot machine, a quarter slot machine and I won 100 quarters and I was like, do this is going to change my life.
That's $25. $25. Sweet. How?
I wish I knew because I have $25. Yeah, that's the one pleasant side effect of not drinking. I'm dreaming. No, just yeah, I never really had a problem dreaming.
I hear that's a side effect of people drinking all the time, but I drink more money. I just got more money. I typically check my bank account on a nearly daily basis because runs pretty tight and I'm like, huh, there's still money in there because I haven't been buying a holiday for the day. The guy would help know that.
So I don't I don't see as nearly as much as you. I don't think I really don't like I don't think I don't ever have anything. My house and if I do it takes me like months like months to drink really, really. Well, it makes me feel bad.
And I was like, why do I give me shit? Like you go to Dan's get wasted. I was like, yeah, I was getting wasted over here. Yeah, you give me the impression that you were drinking as much as I was.
I mean, when I have it, I do kill me. This is an intervention. I drink every weekend. Screen man.
Is this an intervention? No, it's not an intervention. I don't think you have a problem drinking. I know it certainly don't.
My only problem is that I wouldn't. Oh, man. Yeah, the animal slaughter thing like I think I mean, I think I would back out pretty quickly. Could you kill an animal?
Yeah, that's the problem. You could or couldn't. Couldn't. You know, if you're left to pin on it, you're starving.
I mean, Sunday school is a pain in the ass. If Sunday school involved, like you got to kill a chicken. You're like, eh, but if you're born and raised into that, that's all you know. Well, you know, the Christian religion, they're scared of blood, which is why they wine instead of the blood of Christ.
Like you don't think at some point that used to be blood? No, you don't think at any point it was animal blood? No, I don't. I would think at some point.
Why? The last supper, it was wine. Yeah, but it's supposed to be blood. Yeah, it's representation.
But if the guy's blood that it's supposed to be is pouring you wine, that's probably going to be the tradition. Yeah, it can't be like, it's wine tonight, but every night after this guy's. I'm getting dizzy. Well, I feel tired.
Dude. Oh, man, did you hear cananes joke about Vegas? He was like, he's like, I know too soon, but you know, Monday morning, Vegas blood, not really what I want donated at the red. So it's like it's a it's an ashy martin or an ashy bloody Mary with some ice still floating.
Oh, they did think Voodoo had a lot to do with the spreading of HIV. Really? Why? Well, because of the animal sacrifice animal sacrifice and drinking of blood and also there's one particular low out.
Oh, but I don't know. Anyways, he's like a warrior spirit. Yeah. And when you get possessed with him, you cut yourself and like lots of blood on blood and people, you know, just, you know, lots of blood.
Getting crazy. Getting crazy with it. Dancing with it. Just random cuts on themselves.
Drinking rum. Cigarettes. Yeah. I mean, did you watch any videos of I'm sure you did of like people going into trances or being obsessed?
No, I did. Good call. No, because once I read about it and how it's like not really a possession possession. Right.
It's more of a trance. Yeah, it's pretty crazy though watching. It's like, I mean, you can tell these people believe in their religion, like, which makes me think like how much in the mind, could you make that? Could you make that come true?
Like when you're possessed, could you like somehow partition off part of your brain and that is the spirit that's possessing you? Wouldn't be surprised. I mean, almost like a split. What's the split?
People can heal themselves, you know? Yeah, exactly. Or make of themselves sick. I mean, there's false pregnancies.
There's all kinds of stuff that your mind can manifest. Like schizophrenia, like real schizophrenia where people multiple personality. Yeah, where they don't know they even exist, but there are two people living in your brain. True.
I mean, that could be something like a controlled schizophrenia. I mean, or like an induced schizophrenia. Yeah, true. Well, and if it's accepted.
Yeah, and if it's accepted, it's not shunned. Not only accepted, but expected. And praised. Yeah.
That's what I'm talking about. You know what I mean? I mean, I think it has to do with a lot of different legends too. Like, you know, maybe they're just getting into character.
What are the snake Christians, Protestants? You know exactly what I'm talking about. I know who you're talking about. I'm not trying to be like, that's such a broad way to put it.
No, Protestants. No, Pentecostals. Kind of. They're the ones who like hold the snake.
Like in some areas, I'm not saying all of them. I'm not saying all of them. I'm honestly, but you know, the particular church I'm talking about. I know, Protestant is like basically all Christians who aren't Catholic.
See, I don't know religion, man. I know of religions and I know stuff in religions. It's super interesting though. I just thought it was, yeah, it sounded like some weird, tribal thing that we would never understand, but turns out it's kind of simple and not that crazy.
I mean, like, yeah, well, it's basically fortune telling and, you know, or tarot, however you want to look at it, you know, reading someone's future. But even then I kind of got the impression that it's more of a teaching technique. You know, when somebody's telling their priests their problems, it's a way for them to say, oh, the spirit said to do this. Yeah, the spirits are telling me that, you know, I need to tell you this parable that applies to your life.
