The Voyage of the Beagle Chapter 1 - St. Jago and Cape De Verd Islands Part 1

In which the voyage brings us to the arid and volcanic landscapes of St. Jago in the Cape de Verd Islands, where I observe the sparse vegetation, unique birdlife, and the surprising effects of atmospheric dust upon the sea and sky. We also explore the curious geological formations and the intriguing habits of marine creatures such as the cuttle-fish, whilst touching upon the stark, guano-coated rocks of St. Paul's, a solitary cluster rising from the Atlantic depths.
