As an intransitive verb it means, to remain stationary in readiness or expectation, to pause for another to catch up, or to look forward expectantly. I like the last one...to look forward expectantly. It's like peeking into the future, but expecting it soon in your present moment. Why is waiting so hard? I think it is quite simple. We know the past, we know our present moment, but the future, therein lies a mystery. Waiting can hold a love/hate relationship within each of us.
