The Waking Wrath

"The Wrathful Awakening" blends deconstructed modal jazz with Yoruba ritual music. Two saxophones — tenor and soprano — weave a tense dialogue over sparse piano, double bass, broken swing drums, and African percussion (djembe, talking drum). Incantatory vocals in Yoruba summon angry spirits rising from sleep. The result is trance-like yet fragmented: a collision of Coltrane's spiritual jazz and West African ceremonial chants. Unpredictable, hypnotic, and fierce.
