The War on Thoughts

In this sermon “The War on Thoughts,” Fr Arseny explains that sin begins with a thought or temptation, which is not itself a sin, but becomes dangerous when we entertain, accept and consent to it, allowing it to grow into a passion that can control our lives. Although the Lord knows our innermost thoughts, this is both reassuring and a reminder to remain vigilant in guarding our minds. To overcome this spiritual battle, we must turn to prayer, practise patience and perseverance, guard our senses, avoid interfering in others’ affairs, and keep ourselves occupied with meaningful work and service.
