Welcome to the FIRST EVER episode of On The Whorizon, a SexWorkCEO podcast hosted by Jessie Sage, and MelRose Michaels. On The Whorizon is a podcast about what's on the whorizon for sex workers, and how to navigate it. In the first half of season one, we lay the foundation for the past and present 'war on whores' with the aim to educate and help listeners understand the historical context that's lead sex workers to where we are today. The second half of season one will focus more on the actual 'work of sex work' and what it means to work within the sex industry in a contemporary context. In Episode 1, we lay the groundwork for what it means to be a sex worker, where the word itself originated from, and the historical overview of the industry as a whole, as the world's oldest profession. Then, we'll step back and evaluate the business of sex work as a labor alternative, or 'anti-work'. We hope that these topics inform and challenge our listeners to really explore their relationship to sex workers, and the sex work industry as a whole. We want to elevate sex worker stories and experiences, as well as provide tangible takeaways to approach sex work as a business model, should listeners choose to envision it that way.
