The Wave| Pastball Podcast #12

from Past Ball Podcast · host Beard Laws Studio

The Wave - is also referred to as the Mexican Wave is when a packed stadium and its group of fans successively stand, yell, and raise their arms and then immediately sit after reaching full height. The result is a wave of standing spectators that travels through the crowd, even though individual spectators never move away from their seats. The wave was created by "Krazy" George Henderson on October 15, 1981, at the televised A's/Yankees playoff game in Oakland. The Washington Huskies claim to have invented it some two weeks late but the video footage doesn’t lie. Henderson claims that it was originally created by an accident when he had one side of the arena jump and cheer then have the opposite side respond. There was a delayed response from one section of fans that lead to them jumping to their feet later than the section beside them. The next section followed and the wave was created. No matter the age or place if you see a wave you jump up and join. This is Past Ball Podcast and as the Great Bob Uecker said Get Up Get Outta Here! Hosted on Acast.
