The Way to the Cross — Week 2

from LifeWell Messages

Why did Jesus really come? As we move closer to Easter in The Way to the Cross series, this message tackles one of the most important questions in all of Christianity: What was the mission of Jesus? While many people admire Jesus as a great teacher, moral leader, or miracle worker, the Gospels make it clear that His mission was far greater than inspiration. Jesus didn’t come simply to improve our lives — He came to rescue us. Scripture tells us that sin separates humanity from God, leaving us spiritually lost. But God had no desire to leave us in that condition. Out of deep love, He sent Jesus on a mission to seek and save those who were lost. The cross was never an accident or a tragedy — it was the plan all along. This message powerfully reminds us that Jesus didn’t enter the world reluctantly. He came intentionally, pursuing broken people and offering redemption to anyone willing to receive it. And the love behind that mission changes everything: you are not an interruption to God — you are the reason He came. But the story doesn’t stop at the cross. Once Jesus completed His mission, He handed that mission to His followers. Today, believers are called to carry the message of the gospel into the world as ambassadors of Christ. If Jesus came to seek and save the lost, then His followers are called to do the same.
